Dear friends,
Greetings from Ipoh City Watch.
The forum on “Media – Smart Partners of NGO’s” ( “The Role of Media in Enhancing NGO’s Ability to Serve the Community”) on 22nd August was a momentous occasion. We thank Perak Women to Women (PWW) for their kind assistance and the use their premises to hold the forum.
The high turnout of participants representing various NGO’s was a most pleasant surprise. It was not expected and never were there so many NGOs’ in Ipoh gathering under the same roof at the same time.
The coming together of NGOs’ gave us the opportunity to show to the people of Ipoh that various NGOs’ can work together successfully. Thus from now on, we need to work together on a closer level for the common goal.
The forum served as a good model for various NGOs’ to work together on issues that impact the community. The forum also marked a joint commitment among NGOs’ in Ipoh to work together for the betterment of Ipoh with the creation of a network among NGO’s.
Drawing on the knowledge, skills, lessons learnt and experience of its members with regards to community issues and problems, the network can work more effectively through joint advocacy and coordination with relevant groups and institutions.
Therefore, I respectfully request all of you, dear friends, to start including other NGO’s in your future projects. This will in turn enhance and strengthen the work of individual organizations.
