It was more than 100 years when the 1st train service began in the then Malaya.  Today sees an evolution in its services, from steam then to diesel and now to electricity.  KTMB has now introduced the Electric Train Service (ETS).

Although the ETS train service officially begins on 12.08.10, ICW representative and committee member M. Gokoolaram Naidu was one of the privileged few to travel amongst dignitaries in its inaugural Ipoh – Kuala Lumpur journey on 10.08.10.

In Ulu Geroh, Gopeng on August 08, 2010 the first pilot session of Family Day with six ICW members and more than 25 Rotarians began.  Among the members of ICW who attended this pilot session include ICW Chairman Augustine Anthony, Committee Members M. Gokoolaram Naidu,  Bah Tony Williams Hunt,  Chong Pek Khoun and members Dr. Shan N. Narayanan and  B. Balakrishna.

The  pilot session of the Family Day which included the ‘Children Project Assisted Learning Enrichment Program’,  a collaboration between the Kelab Rotary Ipoh Selatan (KRIS) and Ipoh City Watch was hosted on outdoor grounds.  The program was assisted by volunteers and considerable funding from KRIS was therefore required on initial start up. However ICW incurred no cost in this project as it organized the program for the Rotarians for which they were thankful.
